Waterunder_Exeter_web

It was another good day for the stable yesterday at Exeter with a winner coming courtesy of Waterunder (pictured above) for our sponsors Bathwick Tyres.  Maybe the soft ground proved beneficial to our gelding as he produced his best performance yet to defy topweight of 11-12 under Tom Scudamore.  Our other runners also performed creditably with Shotavodka finishing second at Bangor, while Sir Frank produced his best performance in a while when finishing third on this switch back to hurdles - I thought that he wanted better ground, so this has to be considered encouraging.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon, with two over the sticks at Taunton and Ludlow as well as two on the all-weather at Kempton and Southwell.  I know I keep banging on about it, but just take a look at the comparison in prize money today between Kempton and Clonmel - Kempton has £32,000 on offer across their eight race card, while over in Ireland there is £146,000 up for grabs across their seven race meeting.  The stable has runners at one of our local tracks, Taunton this afternoon; Guess Again, Famousandfearless, The Wealerdealer, Weather Babe and Minella Scamp.  Guess Again was a good winner last time out, so let's hope he can maintain that form this afternoon.

Standing_Ovation_Badger_Ales_webI see that the handicapper has reacted to Standing Ovation's success in the Badger Ales Chase at Wincanton last weekend (pictured right) by putting our gelding up by 13lbs to a new mark of 133.  David has decided to run him under a 7lbs penalty, so he will effectively be 6lbs 'well-in' in the amateur riders' chase at Cheltenham tomorrow.  Conor O'Farrell has been the man in the plate for his four successes, but owing to the conditions of the race he will have a new partner tomorrow.  Steven Clements gets the leg-up on our rapidly improving chaser.

Renowned broadcaster Mike Vince will be at Taunton this afternoon and I am sure that David will look forward to catching up with him.  In the meantime, below is another chance to see his recent interview with travelling head lad Craig Wylie...

Boxer Manny Pacquiao will dedicate his next fight to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in his native Philippines.  He fights Brandon Rios on 24th November - let's hope that he gets the result he deserves...the Philippines need all of the help they can get at present.

My stupid mate called 192 and asked for the number for directory enquiries...you can see now why I am considered the brains of the group!
