Sylvest Successful Again!

The stable enjoyed a good winner at Huntingdon as My Brother Sylvest landed the 2m1/2f novices' handicap chase by a comfortable twenty lengths.  With almost £8,000 in winning prize money it was definitely a worthwhile trip - Scu commented that a few of his competitors had run below par, but I don't think the handicapper is going to take much notice of what he has to say!  I'm sure Tom makes a valid point, so let's hope the handicapper tends to agree!  This afternoon there are just three flat cards at Pontefract, Windsor and Wolverhampton - the stable has no runners this afternoon.

What an amazing performance from Arc winner Treve at Longchamp yesterday.  The French Oaks winner was already top class and now she moves into the super league with this outstanding effort.  You couldn't help but feel sorry for Frankie Dettori though who had been booked for the ride until he broke his ankle in a fall last week.  I think I could almost have won aboard her yesterday...she clearly is that good!

I see that golfer Lee Westwood was among the winners at Uttoxeter yesterday.  The former world number one was present to see his father's Ballyalton win the second division of the maiden hurdle - the winning distance was a fifteen foot putt!  He looked useful when winning a point-to-point and this bumper and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he finished up being Cheltenham bound.

I was chuffed to bits when my beloved Hammers beat Spurs 3-0 at the weekend.  It did mess up my litte treble, but on this occasion I don't mind so much!  My wife once told me that you should never bet against the club that you support...I really should start to listen to her!

Manchester United won 2-1 against Sunderland, but I have to be honest and say they do not look to be the same sort of side that they were under Sir Alex Ferguson.  I was impressed by Adnan Januzaj's display - he looks so young that he should still be at school!
