This afternoon we have four meetings to look forward to - three on the flat at Doncaster, Carlisle and Kempton as well as a meeting over jumps at Uttoxeter.  The stable has one runner at Uttoxeter this afternoon, Diamonds Return who is top weight in the three mile handicap hurdle at 4.25pm.  It's a step up in trip for our nine year old who produced his best run for some time when third at Ffos Las last time out.  He won three races on the spin last summer but is still paying for it now, as he is 14lbs higher than his last winning mark.  He has shown he can still be competitive from this mark, let's hope the longer trip can bring about a bit of further improvement.

Our only runner at Worcester yesterday afternoon, Vapiano was disappointing under Tom Scudamore so it is back to the drawing board with him.

I was watching the novices' chase on the Worcester card and witnessed The Cockney Mackem's antics - the seven year old clearly possesses plenty of ability but there are always issues getting him to start.  Yesterday he managed to lose 20 lengths at the start and jockey Sam Twiston-Davies did well to get him to finish second...he is certainly one you would need to back when the tapes have gone up.

I'm looking forward to seeing the 'Legends' race at Doncaster, although perhaps the term legends is stretching the imagination a little too far.  I mean, how on earth can Luke Harvey be referred to as a legend?  You might as well go the whole hog and have Matt Chapman in the race as well!  Having said that at least Luke Harvey had a 100% record as a jockey for MCP - one ride, one winner...it was a Bank Holiday Monday meeting and I was the next choice to ride - say no more!

I wasted a couple of hours of my life watching the England versus Ukraine match last night.  It was one of the most boring evenings I have suffered in a long time.  I reckon the current squad have to be the worst England team since 1966.  I firmly believe the Premiership needs to be looked at with a view to having a higher percentage of players from the home nations involved...at least Head and Shoulders managed to keep a clean sheet.  It is a model that has worked for our national cricket team and I think a similar approach could be adopted for our footballers.

Talking of cricket, England play Australia today at Edgbaston in a day/night one day match.  We have met them so many times lately, people will soon start talking!
