I am pleased to bring you an update from our gallops about last season's novices' chase star Dynaste who I saw in action under Oliver Defew yesterday morning.  Sadly it was a little foggy first thing, but as you can see from the above photograph our grey son of Martaline has summered really well and is on good terms with himself.  The season ahead will certainly be an exciting one for him and everyone in the yard.

It was good to see SIS presenter Mike Vince around the yard yesterday.  Mike was down to conduct some exclusive interviews for David's website which we will be posting over the coming weeks.  As well as interviews with David and Martin, Mike was also able to catch up with owner Terry Neill as well as a whole host of staff from around the stable including Midlands National winning jockey Mikey Ennis, so keep your eyes peeled for those!

Today there are four meetings, three on the flat at Salisbury, Haydock and Kempton as well as a jumps card at Sedgefield.  The stable has no runners this afternoon.

It was like a family day out at the county ground at Taunton yesterday...Chris Grant who had Prince de Bersey with MCP is now chairman of Derbyshire County Cricket Club and he was buying the champagne.  With the alcohol flowing, it was no surprise therefore that David and Ashley Farrant were also in attendance!  Ashley actually won aboard Prince de Bersey so it gives you some idea of what a good horse he was!  Another of our former owners Roy Kerslake was also there in his role as President of Somerset CCC, but looking at the scores I reckon that Chris would have been more pleased than Roy.  Somerset are currently fighting to stay in Division One.

What a great name for a racehorse...Chester'slittlegem was a winner at Bath yesterday, scraping home by a short head.  He sounds a bit like me, never likely to do more than he has too!

You pay £85million for a player and they say you are not an automatic choice to play - that's what Paul Clement, number two at Real Madrid said about their recent record acquisition Gareth Bale.  They must have some forward line if Bale is not an automatic choice to make the team!

It's about time every Premier League team was made to have at least five or six English players in their line-up.  It would certainly prove beneficial to our national team - at present our youngsters are not getting a chance...is there anyone else out there who agrees that this is the way to go?
