There was an impressive performance from the stable's High Ville at Uttoxeter last night as he won by seventeen lengths on his first try at three miles under a fine front-running ride from Conor O'Farrell.  He was keen early on but stayed going very well - let's hope that David has some further entries in mind for him where he can run under a penalty...I think the handicapper may well raise him by more than 7lbs.  The extra distance certainly brought about an improved effort, so let's hope that he can now continue to progress.

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with four on the flat at Yarmouth, Catterick, Lingfield and Kempton as well as a jumps card at Worcester.  The stable does not have any runners today, although it could well be a late night for stable jockey Tom Scudamore who has one booked ride at Worcester tonight, although he will have to wait until the last race of the evening at 9.10pm...let's hope it is worthwhile.

I will be in front of the box for the next five days as the Ashes cricket series starts today between England and Australia...it starts on Sky at 11am.  One of my mates always takes his holidays during the Test matches and watches every ball, mind you he is divorced and I think I have to agree with the wife in this instance!  I hope that Kevin Pietersen gets stuck into the Aussies and stays at the crease for a good few hours - the pitch could be quick and I reckon our bowlers are quicker than their Aussie counterparts.  Come on boys...stick it to'em!

There are some terrible pictures of Gazza in the paper this morning looking absolutely awful.  It seems that the trip to America was a complete waste of time and money - the only way he is going to stop drinking is to lock him up.  It is such a shame to see someone with his talent ending up like this and it is hard to comprehend how you can get so low.  Where are his real friends, and I don't mean his drinking buddies?!

Where would you rather play football, Arsenal or Real Madrid?  It looks to me like Suarez is going to have to make that choice and I reckon Madrid might have a bit more bite!
