It looks like being a busy day of racing with six meetings taking place this afternoon, five on the level at York, Musselburgh, Sandown, Goodwood and Chepstow as well as a jumps fixture at Aintree.  The stable has one runner on the flat as Street Entertainer (pictured above) makes the long trip up to Musselburgh for a tight little 1m6f handicap, but with almost £13,000 prize money to the winner, it is well worth a go.  Our six year old carries a 6lbs penalty for his easy Nottingham success last Sunday and he looks sure to go close - the Sir Mark Prescott trained Mutual Regard looks to be the one we have to beat.  As you would expect, there is a good card at York this afternoon with prize money of £6,000 or more in each race.

I was thrilled to see Lady Jane Cecil enjoy two winners with her first runners from Warren Place since the passing of Sir Henry.  Frankel's half-brother Morpheus was the first to oblige at Nottingham, while Songbird was also successful at Yarmouth yesterday.  Fittingly, Sir Henry will be remembered at Royal Ascot next week with the Queens Vase (a race that he won eight times) being run in his memory - it would be marvellous if Lady Cecil could saddle the winner of that race, I wonder if she has anything suitable?

Trainer David Evans is a real character - after winning at Nottingham with 40/1 chance Know Your Name, he said, 'He's so small I told the owners I didn't think I could train him and wouldn't charge them the full fee!'  I bet connections are on full training fees now!

What a knock from Kumar Sangakkara with his 134 not out helping Sri Lanka to beat England by seven wickets.  It was one of those bitter sweet moments where you know you have witnessed something spectacular, but would rather that it was not against your own side!  Now England need to beat New Zealand in Cardiff on Sunday.

I see that Sergio Garcia has unsurprisingly been getting a lot of stick at the US Open golf after his jibe at Tiger Woods.  While Woods has accepted Garcia's apology it would appear that plenty of the fans have not.  Personally, I didn't think it was too bad...it just goes to show how careful you have to be about what you say these days.
