It was a good weekend for the yard (and for stable sponsors Bathwick Tyres) with a winner on both Saturday and Sunday.  Waterunder was successful at Ffos Las on Saturday under a good ride from Tom Scudamore and it looks as though the better ground is the key to him.  He will jump fences in time, but in the meantime there are further races to be won with him over timber on this evidence.  On Sunday Massanie bolted up at Uttoxeter on her debut for the yard, scoring by no less than ten lengths.  She is another that looks more than capable of winning again.  As previously mentioned, Wayne and Sarah Clifford own both of our winners and these successes are no less than they deserve when you consider the investment they have made in our sport.

Today there are five meetings taking place, four on the flat at Redcar, Windsor, Carlisle and Leicester as well as a jumps card at Cartmel.  The stable does not have any runners this afternoon.

Any concerns that A P McCoy might not yet be 100% should already be dispelled, especially if you had seen him in action aboard Calypso Bay at Fontwell yesterday.  It is just another one in a long line of "wouldn't have won under any other jockey" rides and has to be my ride of the week.

Over in Ireland yesterday there was a big shock in the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh as Camelot was turned over at odds of 4/11 by the Roger Charlton trained Al Kazeem.  There were only four runners and the last home picked up over £6,000.  Not a bad afternoon's work for 100/1 chance Negotiate who completed in his own time.

The cricket between England and New Zealand is so one-sided that I reckon the Kiwi's would struggle against any of our county sides.  They were bowled out for 174 and showed they had no idea how to play our spinner Graeme Swann who took 4-42.  The Aussies will be much harder to beat so let's not get too carried away.

Surely climbing cannot become an Olympic sport?  All you have to do is fall off the top of the cliff and you win...someone else would need to collect your gold medal however!

Rafa Benitez did a good job as interim manager for Chelsea and I think that by the end of the season he had won most of the fans over.  Let's hope that he gets another chance with a big clud and fans that really want him.  Everton are looking for a manager...only joking!  Have a nice Bank Holiday Monday.
