I have to say that the guys have done a great job in revamping David's website.  Having looked at most of the other trainers sites, I think that ours is the best...although I might be a little bit biased with my judgement!  Anyway, if you have not yet seen it, it is well worth a look - actually, that's a bit of a stupid statement, as if you are reading this then you have already seen it!  As usual, my column will be Pond House and racing oriented, but I will also be sticking my nose into some other sports and offering my opinions some of which you may agree with, and plenty that you won't!  If you have any opinions that you wish to share with me, just drop us a line at This email address is being protected from spambots. I was saddened to read that MCP's favourite comedy actor, Norman Wisdom passed away on Monday although he did reach the ripe old age of 95.  I still remember that on Martin's 50th birthday, my wife gave him tickets to see Norman in Torquay - he must have been over 75 then.  He performed for an hour and a half on his own and was absolutely fantastic, receiving five standing ovations from a packed theatre.  As the crowds were leaving, Norman put his head through the curtains and said "Mr Grimsdale" in a high pitched voice (the older generations reading this will know what I mean).

Jane also arranged for Martin to meet Norman afterwards - he was a really humble chap and it transpired that he had ridden a few horses in his younger days.  There is still a picture of MCP with Norman Wisdom on the wall at Pond House - they don't make them like Norman anymore.

Looking through the Racing Post birthdays, I see that David Pipe is 75 today - I must get the number of his surgeon!  Of course, I am only joking, it is not our David's birthday, in fact it is the birthday of David Pipe, former Jockey Club director of public affairs.  Many happy returns to him!

David Pipe - wearing well for a pensioner!
