Unfortunately our only intended runner of the day Amigo doesn't participate in the 2.10pm at Exeter meaning that we have a rare blank day while there is action at the Devon track.  There is also jumping taking place at Bangor and there is some decent prize money up for grabs at the two National Hunt meetings.  I suppose I had better give the flat a plug too - there is action taking place on the all-weather at Southwell and Kempton, and the latter plays host to a decent handicap this evening with over £10,000 going to the winner.

There is a good National Hunt Breeze Up Sale at Cheltenham on Friday - the horses entered breeze up at 8.30am in the morning and the sale starts after racing at 5pm.  It could be a long day if you are planning on sticking around for the duration.  There are plenty of promising ex-pointers and unexposed types for sale and there have been some very useful horses purchased from here down the years.

My_Brother_Sylvest_Exeter_191011Talking of horses for sale, I see that David has multiple winning hurdler My Brother Sylvest (pictured right) advertised for sale.  My Brother Sylvest rattled up a quick hat-trick over timber last season and holds the course record at Grade One track Haydock.  This season he has embarked on a novices' chase campaign and has taken to the larger obstables well, finishing third on both occasions, most notably when not far behind 147 rated hurdler Sire de Grugy at Kempton - for more details visit our horses for sale page.  If you are interested in joining the ranks of racehorse ownership with My Brother Sylvest or at one of the upcoming sales, do feel free to give David a call on 01884 840715 to discuss your requirements.

I thought that young Hadden Frost gave Ahwaak a great ride to win at Lingfield yesterday afternoon for trainer Roger Curtis.  He managed to keep the eight year old going well to get up and beat the favourite by a couple of lengths.  The winner had started at long odds on all of his three previous starts this season, yet was only 5/1 yesterday so better was clearly expected and Hadden didn't let his supporters down.  He is a good young jockey who doesn't get as many rides from outside trainers that his talent deserves.  Yesterday's success was his third in eight days and his fifth of the season.

Don't forget to order your copy of the Racing Post on Saturday - it marks the start of David's column in the paper and will be a weekly fixture during the remainder of the jumps season.  Get your order in early as they will probably sell out...David does tend to buy a lot of them!

On the football front Steven Gerard will reach his 100th cap for England tonight against Sweden.  The 32 year old captain will be the sixth England centurion - a great achievement for a great player.
