Manuelito: Winner at Wincanton & Ffos Las
We are off the mark for the new season after Manuelito won impressively on handicap debut at Ffos Las last week. Our four year old has done nothing but improve in each start over hurdles and following a win at Wincanton in novice company he made light of his opening rating of 113. They went a good gallop in his race over two miles and he jumped well and travelled strongly. He challenged the long-time leader from the second last and won going away on the run in. He will probably stay further than this in time and he enjoys the better ground so will be kept going for now and may have a run on the flat again at some point as well.

Ramses De Teillee off to his New Home
It was great to have some nice warm sunshine over the last few days and it was lovely to see the horses out in the field enjoying their summer holidays. We had a handful of runners last week in the new season and Neon Moon fared best with a solid run off a mark of 130 to finish third in a competitive race at Kempton. After a good campaign last term, which started and finished with a win, he is now on holiday and we can look forward to have him back racing in the autumn. Chemical Warfare also made a pleasing enough stable debut to be fourth and we learnt more about him for next time.

Kingston Queen - 1 Share Remaining!
We have our first runners of the 2024-25 season on Monday at Kempton and hopefully Neon Moon and Kepagge can get us off to a good start. On Tuesday we have three runners across the country with one at Fakenham, Southwell and Hereford so they are fairly spread out!

The 2023-24 National Hunt season came to its conclusion on Saturday at Sandown and may I say very well done to all the winners. It is a phenomenal achievement by Willie Mullins to win the trainers championship, the first Irish trainer to do it since the great Vincent O’Brien 70 years ago. He has had a fantastic season both sides of the Irish Sea and he may be difficult to stop going forwards next season.

It was great to end the last week with a winner at Wincanton on Sunday with Manuelito winning division two of the novices hurdle over two miles with Jack Tudor riding. He is a lovely big four year old, son of Cracksman, the first I have trained from this sire. He had a few runs on the flat in the same ownership for Richard Hannon as a two and three year old and while he ran okay, he did not set the world alight and you can see why when you look at him. He has just strengthened and matured all winter, we have taken our time with him, and thankfully, it seems to have paid off.

The week started well last week with another Monday winner courtesy of Royal Mer winning for the fifth time this season. He has really enjoyed the switch to fences, especially the drop back to two miles and this success brought up a hat trick of wins. Since our six year old went chasing in November he has won five times and been second twice, the only time unplaced, he did not stay over a longer trip. His rating started on 93 for his first win a Ffos Las and his win at Wincanton was off a mark of 116 and it was his most impressive to date. He is due to go up ten pounds for that win from tomorrow but we do have him entered at Ayr on Friday where he can run with a penalty. His slick jumping is his biggest asset and he loves soft ground, the softer the better. Providing the ground remains soft, he is likely to have another run before his summer holiday.

Phantomofthepoints Winner at Chepstow
We started last week with a winner on Easter Monday at Chepstow, Phantomofthepoints. I was delighted to get this first win over hurdles for our six year old, as he has been very consistent all season. He finished second in a bumper on stable debut, a very close second on hurdling debut at Ayr and second at Hexham more recently. He had just the one below par run at Ascot where going right handed was not to his advantage.
