This afternoon there are four meetings to look forward to - three on the level at Newmarket, Pontefract and Wolverhampton, while over the sticks it is the second and final day of Perth's meeting. Despite not having any runners, David made the long journey up to Scotland and had an enjoyable day at the races. Stable jockey Tom Scudamore and Conor O'Farrell both had rides at the meeting but drew a bland and will both be hoping for better luck this afternoon. Tom has three rides and they all appear to have chances. Meanwhile the card at Newmarket looks very good with a Group 3 contest supported by two Listed races.

This afternoon there are four meetings taking place, three on the level at Goodwood, Redcar and Kempton as well as a jumps fixture from Perth. Although the stable has no runners today, both Tom Scudamore and Conor O'Farrell have rides at the Scottish track - let's hope they ride a winner or two, otherwise it is going to be a very expensive meeting for them and a very long journey home. The Tracey Shuffle was a non-runner at Newton Abbot yesterday afternoon leaving just Prime Location to represent the yard and he ran okay, racing up with he pace for a long way before finishing fifth under Anthony Fox. It would have been good experience for the 10lbs conditional jockey.

There are three flat meetings taking place this afternoon at Beverley, Carlisle and Lingfield as well as a jumps fixture from our local track Newton Abbot. There is good prize money of £43,000 up for grabs at the Devon track (more than Carlisle or Lingfield) and the team should once again be commended on a job well done. The stable has two runners at Newton Abbot in the 5.20pm race - Prime Location and The Tracey Shuffle. Prime Location will be partnered by conditional jockey Anthony Fox who claims 10lbs off his back - Anthony works in the yard and this will be valuable experience for him.

Today it is all about flat racing again with meetings taking place at Hamilton, Leicester and Kempton. The stable hit the bar a few times yesterday with Purple 'N Gold finishing third at Plumpton and Bathwick Man filling the same position at Uttoxeter. If Purple 'N Gold had jumped either of the last two flights fluently, I think he might of won...I guess that is why they say jumping is the name of the game. Bathwick Man (pictured above) stuck on well to finish close up in third in the handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter - he has been running creditably of late and looks to be on a reasonable enough mark to suggest that he can continue to be competitive. Standing Ovation fell at the second fence...we could just do with a bit of luck on our side.

It's great to be back with some jumping action today and we should now go through almost uninterrupted until the end of the season. There are three meetings this afternoon - one on the flat at Hamilton as well as two National Hunt fixtures at Plumpton and Uttoxeter. The stable has no less than five runners - four at Uttoxeter (Royal Peak, Bathwick Man, Sir Frank and Standing Ovation) and one at Plumpton (Purple 'N Gold). Purple 'N Gold continues to run well and prove himself a shrewd claim - he was an unlucky loser on the level at Sandown last time and looks to have leading claims reverting to hurdles under Tom Scudamore. Royal Peak (pictured above) seems to have improved with the step-up in trip, while Bathwick Man has gone close the last twice and is another with sound prospects.

It's a busy day on the level with five flat cards to look forward to from Ayr, Newmarket, Newbury, Catterick and Wolverhampton. There is great prize money up for grabs at Ayr for their Gold Cup meeting. Indeed, there is over £400,000 up for grabs. The big race itself has attracted no fewer than 27 runners and the bookies make it 11/1 the field - that gives you some idea of how competitive the race is. I have a feeling that the ground is going to catch a lot of these runners out. The Silver Cup (for those that didn't make the cut for the feature race) has also attracted 27 runners - for those people having a punt, you might be better off saving your money and having a go at tonight's National Lottery instead!

This afternoon there are four flat cards to look forward to at Ayr, Newbury, Newcastle and Wolverhampton. The question that comes to mind is how on earth have Newcastle managed to get away with staging an eight race card for only £29,000 in prize money? Moreover, why are owners supporting the meeting? They have fields of sixteen and seventeen runners even though the most valuable race of the day is worth less than £3,000 to the winner. As far as I can tell, if the tracks think they can get away with putting on poor prize money, they will.
