What a caking cracking good run from Lady Of Longstone yesterday at Kempton! She made all at a brisk pace under a well-judged positive ride from leading amateur David Noonan and she found more when challenged to score by 6 lengths from a career high mark of 117. It looks as though she handled this good/soft surface just fine as she recorded a new personal best effort - her recent improvement is incredible considering that only last month she was winning from a mark of 95. She still looks to be on the upgrade and with Christmas just around the corner I reckon there could be some Christmas pudding on the menu...you regular readers will know what I mean!

The stable had a nice winner at Haydock on Saturday when Vieux Lion Rouge won the three mile handicap chase in good fashion by four lengths under Tom Scudamore. He stayed the trip very well and he certainly seemed to enjoy this soft ground as he recorded a clear personal best. He certainly looks as though he is going to make a better chaser than hurdler and he should go on to better things. Meanwhile, Batavir ran with credit when finishing third in the Fixed Brush hurdle and Dynaste filled the same position behind Cue Card and Silviniaco Conti in the Betfair Chase. Cue Card looks as though he is right back to his best and if he goes for the King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day he will take some beating if able to reproduce this - is should be a Christmas cracker with Vautour in opposition.

There are two meetings taking place today and it is good news if you are a fan of the jumps as both Exeter and Uttoxeter host action over the sticks. David has a couple of runners at Exeter in Houston Dynimo and Ikrapol. The ground at Exeter is officially heavy and it is a testing track at the best of times so it will take some getting and I would imagine there will be quite a few horses finishing tired. Houston Dynimo was a winner at Wincanton a couple of weeks ago on very soft ground and is partnered by winning jockey, leading amateur David Noonan who takes a handy 7lbs off his back. Let's hope he runs well...he is owned by Sue, the cake lady!

We are in for a cracking day's racing with five meetings taking place this afternoon. There are three National Hunt fixtures from Ascot, Haydock and Huntingdon while there are two all-weather flat cards from Lingfield and Wolverhampton. David runs My Brother Sylvest at Ascot while at Haydock he saddles Low Key, Batavir, Dynaste, Ballynagour (pictured above), Poole Master and Vieux Lion Rouge. The big race of the day is undoubtedly the Grade One Betfair Chase at Haydock at 3.00pm and David is doubly represented with Dynaste and Ballynagour. They are third and fourth favourites behind Silviniaco Conti and Cue Card (who beat our pair last time at Wetherby) - it looks a trappy little race and one mistake could decide the outcome.

There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps action from Ascot and Haydock as well as a cheap all-weather flat card from Wolverhampton where they are offering a miserly £39,000 in prize money across their eight race card. Our jockeys continued in good form yesterday with Tom Scudamore riding a winner at Market Rasen and David Noonan riding a winner at Wincanton. It was more of a steering job for David as his task aboard the Anthony Honeyball trained Creswell Breeze was made considerably easier by Noel Fehily unseating from the odds-on favourite. David has now ridden 20 winners (18 of them this season) and his claim will drop to 5lbs after the weekend.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Market Rasen and Wincanton, while there are all-weather flat fixtures from Lingfield and Chelmsford City. Although the stable has no runners this afternoon, it looks as though our jockeys are going to be kept busy nonetheless with David Noonan and Conor O'Farrell heading to Wincanton for some outside rides, while Tom Scudamore makes the journey to Market Rasen for a couple of mounts.

Whoever said that a winner makes no difference? What a load of rubbish! Katkeau was a ready winner of the beginners' chase at Fakenham yesterday - he jumped really well on his chase debut and battled on tenaciously to beat 1/3 favourite Southfield Vic. The whole stable was lifted and even Rex (Carol's dog) looked like he was smiling (or at least showing his teeth!). Don't forget that the favourite was rated 11lbs higher than Katkeau over hurdles so this has to be considered a promising start to his new career - he seemed to love the soft ground and should be winning more races over fences judging by this. It was also Tom Scu's first winner since returning from injury so it was a good day all round.
