There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps action from Fakenham and Southwell as well as an all-weather flat card from Lingfield.  There are no runners from Pond House today although David Noonan travels to Southwell this afternoon for just one mount and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the 'one ride' theory pay off this afternoon - let's hope so, otherwise it will be a long trip home for the young jockey.

Both of the stable runners ran creditably yesterday afternoon at Leicester.  Red Square Revival finished fourth in the 2m6f handicap chase and I am not sure that he quite saw this longer trip out.  Meanwhile, Delface finished seventh in the two mile handicap hurdle on his first start for six months and the run could well sharpen him up.

There was a good football match last night between Brighton and Stoke which finished in a 2-2 draw.  Brighton should have been awarded a penalty after Stoke's Ryan Shawcross hacked down Glen Murray with even Shawcross conceding that it should have been a penalty!  It was a televised match - you would think that they could use the replay technology to help with the officiating.

There are some interesting matches tonight as Spurs take on Borussia Dortmund, while Manchester City play Feyenoord and Liverpool face Sevilla.  The problem is that some of these teams cannot qualify, while others have already qualified meaning that you are unsure about the strength of the sides that the managers will be fielding.

I see that West Brom have sacked manager Tony Pullis - it is hard to believe that they would want Ronald Koeman or Slaven Bilic as their new boss.  How many other jobs can you think of where you fail miserably and get a nice pay-off (and then go out and get another job to fail miserably at to boot!)?  I must be missing something.

I saw a sign in a shop the other day.  It said 'Mosquito Nets £10' - I didn't even know that bugs could play the lottery!
