The cold weather continues to take it's belated hold on the racing calendar and consequently there is just one meeting on this afternoon on the all-weather this afternoon at Wolverhampton.  Hopefully we will get some jumping tomorrow at Ayr - the Scottish track seeems to be fine at present and is the saviour for us National Hunt fans.  There is an inspection planned for 2pm this afternoon at Folkestone ahead of their meeting scheduled for tomorrow - apparently the track is covered in snow and frozen in places so it does not look too hopeful.

I thought that Last Instalment looked good in winning at Leopardstown yesterday and he could be in line to take on Grands Crus at the Cheltenham Festival next month.  I am not sure that the level of form he showed yesterday in Ireland is quite up to the same standard that our charge has produced thus far - even so, he looks to have a live chance come March.  Roll on Cheltenham!

I see that Liverpool have apologised to Manchester United for the no handshakes on Saturday.  I have to be honest, I don't really see the point in handshakes - the players take to the pitch, go in with two-footed challenges and promptly get themselves sent off!  The handshakes clearly don't help the players to warm to each other, so why bother?

Getting beaten 5-1 at home against West Bromwich Albion certainly hasn't helped Mick McCarthy's job prospects.  He is now an 8/13 chance to get the sack - the players have let him down badly and they are the ones responsible should he get shown the door.

As much as I don't like saying it, I thought the Spurs looked outstanding as they beat Newcastle 5-1.  Harry certainly has his side playing some great attacking football at present.
