Apologies for the delay in this morning's update, unfortunately we have had a few technical difficulties but it is good to be up and running again!  With Unex Degas a non-runner in the bumper at Fontwell, the stable has two runners this afternoon - Clever Dick at Fontwell and Rose Of The Moon at Huntingdon.  Clever Dick showed improved form last time to finish a close second so hopefully he will be able to go one better this afternoon, while Rose Of The Moon, a winner on his debut for the stable participates in first time blinkers.

Exciting novice chaser Notus de la Tour has left the yard this morning as he travels over to Ireland for their Arkle Chase at Leopardstown on Sunday.  He will face a maximum of seven rivals (four of which finished behind him last time) when he participates in the Grade One contest at 1.25pm - Robbie Power, who was on board last time out keeps the ride.  David purchased Notus from a claimer in France, and is yet another advertisement of the trainer's ability to find the right horse at the right price.  He has provided his lucky owners with no end of enjoyment, winning four times since arriving at Pond House as well as finishing runner-up at the Cheltenham Festival, runner-up in a Grade One chase in Ireland, and runner-up in France, as well as finishing third in a Totesport Trophy at Newbury - what a buy!

It was good to see AP McCoy back in the saddle yesterday afternoon at Warwick.  His mount in the bumper couldn't produce the dream return, but the champ didn't appear to have lost any of his vigour as he partnered Key To The West to finish second.  He rides in a hurdle this afternoon and is just taking things steadily on his return, although I would imagine that he will stepping things up a gear with some great action on tomorrow.

Apparently we are going to get some very cold weather coming over from Russia, so it could be time to get your thermals out!  Let's hope we do not lose too many fixtures.  Forecasters say that the cold snap could last for a month so that would almost put the Cheltenham Festival into the equation - I hope they are wrong.  Having said all of that, I remember reading a few months ago that we were set for one of the worst winter's on record and that hasn't materialised...yet!

What a 3-ball to start the Abu Dhabi golf tournament with Rory McIlroy, Tiger Wood and Luke Donald taking each other on.  I don't think I have ever seen Tiger looking so relaxed or talking so much - he still hit a few wayward shots, but on the whole played very well.  He must like playing with Rory.

I see that England are struggling again against the Pakistani's.  Petersen has failed once more and doesn't seem to be able to play spin at all - it is a shame that there are not more younger players pushing for his place.

You have to feel sorry for poor Andy Murray.  While his prickly demeanour does not particularly appeal to me, he can certainly be considered unlucky being around in an era that features Federer, Nadal and Djokovic.  In any other era, he would surely have won a grand slam title by now.

Finally, it's my birthday today and I reckon that I am looking pretty good for a 72 year old!  You will see from the picture (below left) taken a few years ago that I was clearly ahead of my time in the fashion stakes, and have clearly lost none of my va-va-voom as the more recent picture (right) demonstrates.  Anyway, if anyone would like to donate to my wardrobe fund (I am sure you will agree that it is a great cause!), please forward any contributions to Pond House!
