It could be a bit of a quiet day on the racing front.  Fakenham abandoned their jumping card yesterday, while Folkestone will face a second inspection this morning at 10am to see if racing can go ahead.  Add to that, the fact that there is no all-weather racing this afternoon and we could quite easily be reliant on Ayr for our racing fix!  We have no runners today, although (weather permitting) we will have runners at Newbury tomorrow.

They tell me that the weather is going to get milder so there must be a good chance that Newbury will go ahead tomorrow.  At least there is some all-weather action at Lingfield and Kempton scheduled for tomorrow should the turf meets fall.  Just think you could go to Lingfield where the last race is 4.05pm, then jump in your car for Kempton which starts at 4.25pm.  It might be a bit tight, but you could certainly make it for the second - having said all of that, you must live a fairly sad existence if you are even contemplating it!

It is boxing legend Muhammad Ali's 70th birthday today.  I keep telling my son Lester that Cassius Clay was the greatest heavyweight of all time, but it does start plenty of arguments in our household.  I saw Cassius fight Jo Bugner in Amercia and the training camp in the hotel was incredible - entertainment at the highest level.  He had a skipping routine to music that needed to be seen to be believed.  I also remember watching another of his fights in a cinema in Brighton when I was supposed to be at the England table tennis training camp at Crystal Palace.  The fight went the distance and I managed to get back to the camp at 6.45am - just in time to start running at 7am!  I don't mind telling you that I was knackered that day.  Happy birthday to the greatest heavyweight of them all!

Manchester City managed to scrape three points against bottom team Wigan last night.  They really didn't look very impressive and Mancini says they need more players - just think, if he sells Tevez he will have about £20 million to spend on new players.  Is it really that difficult, or am I missing something?!
