I am not sure how welcome trainer Andrew Balding will be when (or if) he ever goes back to Wolverhampton racecourse.  He had runners at the track earlier in the week and then posted on social networking site Facebook that "the best part of going racing at Wolverhampton is leaving!".  I know that it is not the most glamorous track in the world but they were always very helpful to us when MCP was training.  We would often take some horses there to gallop, although I am not sure David will want reminding of that too much - he came off one and was injured - I don't think it could have been too bad though as he didn't want the boot cutting off by the medics!

I loved the series on Legends of the Turf that appeared in the Racing Post over the past few weeks.  The Peter Easterby profile could easily be turned into a book...imagine how many stories he must have about Mick.  Mick was a real character who would often tell myself and Martin some amazing tales about gambles that had gone astray - we used to sit down every year at the Newmarket Sales and he would spin us some great yarns!

I have to confess I am completely baffled by the cricket spot and bowling fixing.  I just wonder how the people behind all this manage to get so much money on?  Imagine going into your local betting office and asking for £10,000 on a bowler to bowl four no-balls in the third over...would the staff not smell a little rat?  I see one punter in a Corbett shop was told that the maximum bet they would allow on a greyhound race was £20!  So it begs the question - why is noone asking who took the cricket bets?!
