Poole_Master_Uttoxeter

It was another good day for the yard yesterday with one winner from one runner at Uttoxeter.  Poole Master was impressive in winning the National Hunt maiden hurdle on the card under regular pilot Chris Honour and he looks as though he will be at least equally as effective on softer ground and maybe even a little further - he certainly looks a useful recruit.  The form of his sole hurdles start at Newbury last season was by far the best on offer and he never looked to be in any danger throughout the race.  There was a good interview with Chris Honour afterwards and he announced that his ambition is to ride out his claim (3 more winners required) before hanging up his boots...Poole Master could be just the horse to give him those successes.

Watching the racing on television yesterday afternoon I could not believe my eyes when Bonnie Baloo was deemed to have beaten D'gigi by a nose at Catterick.  I must go to Specsavers - if I had been at the track I would have been having a punt on the result of the photograph and I would have lost!  I watched the replay four times and am still convinced they had called it wrong

Talking of Catterick - I wonder what price you could have got about Arisea in running in the boys' race.  He was stone last about twenty lengths off the leaders in the early stages before coming late under 8lbs claiming jockey Joel Belbin...it was like watching Timmy Murphy at his best.

Willie Carson is certainly making a splash in the jungle.  The celebrities were last night treated to a hot tub in the jungle following the successful completion of a task.  The little Scot was so delighted that he stood on the edge of the hot tub and started performing bombs into the water - he was the only one small enough to do so and it certainly amused me.  I have it on good authority from an avid follower of the show that little Willie is going to take some beating in the series for which he is a top priced 16/1 - you heard it here first!

I see that Crystal Palace beat Manchester United at Old Trafford last night in the Carling Cup.  That's all you need to know about the competition - you cannot seriously tell me that if this had been a Premiership match, Palace would have won...they might as well call it "The Egg Cup"!
