There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with a jumps card at Warwick, a flat fixture from Salisbury and something of an all-weather bonanza with cards from Lingfield, Chelmsford City and Wolverhampton.  David has one runner today as Dindin contests the 2m4f handicap chase at Warwick.  He was a winner over course and distance nine days ago and runs from the same mark today, so has obvious claims on that basis.  He was narrowly beaten from the same mark a couple of days ago at Southwell, but his jumping wasn't as fluent as it could have been.  Should be right there again with Philip Armson in the saddle.

We were out of luck at Bangor yesterday afternoon, with Abaya du Mathan getting no further than the first fence in the conditional jockeys' handicap chase.  Iron Heart emerged from the 2m7f handicap hurdle with a good bit of credit.  He looked to be the likeliest winner turning into the straight but a mistake two out did not aid his cause before he seemed to find this longer trip just beyond him.  He looks well capable of winning something similar over a slightly shorter distance.

There were no major surprises in the British Open snooker yesterday with the likes of Judd Trump, Mark Selby and Yan Bigtao all progressing to the last 16.  There are some interesting matches taking place this afternoon, not least the game between Gary Wilson and Mark Allen, both of whom have looked to be in good touch so far this week.  In these short matches it can go either way and I wouldn't like to call it.

There is American Football action tonight as the Miami Dolphins, surprisingly one of only two unbeaten teams left in the league travel to Cincinnati to take on last year's Superbowl runners-up.  After a slow start to the season, the Bengals won last week and could give the Dolphins plenty to think about, especially with home-field advantage.
