There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with a jumps card from Southwell, flat fixtures from Bath and Beverley and an all-weather flat card from Chelmsford City.  David has three runners today at Southwell; Dindin, Red Happy (pictured above) and Kalma.  Dindin is the first of those as he contests the 2m4f handicap chase at 6.10pm.  He ran well at Stratford on Sunday when just reeled in after the last over two miles.  This longer trip looks sure to suit and he looks to have a decent chance once again with Philip Armson in the saddle.

Red Happy runs in the 3m handicap chase at 6.40pm.  A winner three times last term at up to 2m4f, he showed he stays further when runner-up in the 3m5f Norfolk National last time.  He is 3lbs higher this afternoon, so will need to have improved again, but he is only a five year old and this drop back in distance should suit.  It is a competitive contest with a couple of last time out winners in the line-up, but he should go well again.  Philip Armson rides.

Our final runner is Kalma as she contests the concluding 2m4f handicap hurdle at 8.40pm.  She was unlucky at Uttoxeter on her debut for the stable when carried out at the last when delivering her challenge.  Today's conditions should suit and she is another with a decent shout, although the non-runner means that the bookmakers are only paying two places.  Tom Scudamore is in the saddle.

What a performance from England's footballers last night as they beat Norway 8-0 in the Women's European Championships to earn themselves a spot in the quarter-finals.  Six of those goals came in the first half as they ran riot and they will surely be difficult to beat if remaining in this sort of form.

There is more cricketing action to look forward to today as England take on India in the first of a three match one day international series at the Oval.  England were well beaten in their T20 clash last week, so let's hope they can turn the tables in this longer 50 overs format.
