There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat fixtures from Doncaster, Newmarket, Carlisle, Newbury and Epsom.  By far and away the pick of the action comes today at Newmarket where their card features a couple of Group 2 contests, a Group 3 and a Listed race, as well as a couple of almost impossible to solve handicaps.  The Derby form is looking very good and it gets tested again this afternoon as Masekela, who outran his odds when fourth at Epsom contests the Bahrain Trophy at 1.50pm.  The horses to have finished either side of him in the Derby have gone on to win the Irish equivalent and a race at Royal Ascot, so he looks sure to go close...he won't be 66/1 today however!

There are no runners from the Pond House team today with our next runners likely to come on Saturday with Lady Reset an intended runner on the level at Salisbury.  We declare this morning at 10am.

The tennis from Wimbledon produced another thrilling match yesterday with an injured Rafa Nadal overcoming the odds to beat eleventh seed, Taylor Fritz, whilst carrying an injury.  It was like a Rocky movie, but on a tennis court!  Nadal needed to take an extended time out for an abdominal injury but showed tremendous resilience and skill to beat his younger opponent despite clearly being below his best.  He will now face bad boy, Nick Kyrgios in the semi-final.  I don't rate Nadal's chances, but hope he is fit enough to put some manners on the obnoxious Antipodean.

England managed to get off to the best possible start in the Womens European Cup last night as they beat Austria 1-0 at Old Trafford in front of record crowds.  They will now play Norway on Monday.

England's cricketers take on India in a T20 match today at Southampton and they will be keen to keep up the momentum of their recent test successes against New Zealand and India.  It should be an exciting match between the top two ranked teams in the world.
