There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with a jumps card from Worcester, flat fixtures from Thirsk, Musselburgh and Bath and all-weather action from Kempton.  David has one runner today as Itacare (pictured above) contests the 2m7f handicap hurdle at Worcester at 3.00pm.  Our five year old has been in good form of late, winning at Ludlow and filling the frame in three subsequent starts.  He remains 9lbs above his winning mark but should be thereabouts again with conditions to suit.  Tom Scudamore is in the saddle and he has each-way claims in an open looking contest.

They have been watering at Worcester to maintain the good ground, but unfortunately for Bath they do not have such a luxury, with no irrigation system in place.  The weather forecast is for showers, but those are unlikely to have much impact on the going, which is already officially reported as firm in places for their meeting this evening.

I thoroughly enjoyed the tennis last night between Serena Williams and Harmony Tan, with the underdog beating the seven-times former champion on a tie-break in the final set.  Williams looked rusty during the early stages but looked like she was finding her touch when steam-rollering through the second set, but her opponent showed great tenacity to edge it in a decider.  At the age of 40, it may be the last time the Wimbledon crowd see Williams, but what a champion she has been.

The Brits are back in action today with Emma Raducanu and Andy Murray both on centre court this afternoon in their second round matches.  Raducanu faces Caroline Garcia, who has been ranked as high as world number four in the past.  Let's hope she prevails.
