         Kolisi Runs at Stratford Today

Today we have two runners at Stratford, Kolisi and Awesomedude.  Kolisi runs in the opening contest on the card, a conditional jockeys handicap hurdle over 2m2f.  Our four year old is making a quick reappearance after finishing second at Worcester on Saturday.  He has come out of that race well and so we decided to let him take his chance while he is three pounds ahead of the handicapper.  In form jockey Philip Armson rides him for the first time this afternoon and claims a handy three pounds in this race.  I see the Racing Post have him at about 5/2 favourite, just ahead of the Milton Harris trained Appreciate who is looking for his own hat-trick of wins.  There is then a little gap in the betting to the rest of the field and even though it looks a competitive little race there is hopefully more to come from Kolisi.

Our second runner on the card is Awesomedude in the 3.55pm novices hurdle over two miles.  David Noonan is on board, taking over from Tom Scu who is banned today.  Our six year old who runs in the colours of the Value Racing Club was the impressive winner at Huntingdon last time and a repeat of that should see him go well in this.  He does have to carry a penalty and give seven pounds to a couple of decent rivals so it won't be easy but he is in good form at home and the track will suit.  Four of the last five winners of this race have won their previous race so fingers crossed we can continue this trend!

David and Leanne are off to Royal Ascot today and I am looking forward to watching it all from home.  This is the first time they have been since before Covid and it will be so nice to have this back to 'normal'.  Unfortunately we do not have any runners there this week but today is of course Ascot Stakes Day, a race synonymous with Pond House.  David last won it with Junior and hopefully we may have something to run in the race next year.  The race is off this afternoon at 5pm and the Irish are looking to dominate and have the first three in the betting.  Another duo with a great record in the race is the Willie Mullin/Ryan Moore combination and they have the favourite, Bring On The Night.  Other predominantly jumps trainers to have runners in the race include Gordon Elliott, Dan Skelton, Paul Nicholls, Charlie Longsden.  Will one of them prevail or will the flat boys show them the way?!  I am being a bit boring and sticking with the favourite, Bring On The Night.

Racing at Royal Ascot gets underway at 2.30pm and perhaps the star horse of the day runs in this race, Baaeed.  The William Haggas trained, Jim Crowley ridden four year old is getting compared to the mighty Frankel which shows what is thought of him.  He is a short priced favourite to win today and it would be amazing to see him put in a Frankel like performance.  The racing there today really does have an International feel and the first two in the betting for the King Stand Stakes over five furlongs at 3.40pm have travelled a long way to compete.  The Chris Waller, Australian trained Nature Strip heads the market, with the second favourite being the Wesley Ward, American trained, Golden Pal.   Can the home nations stop the prize being taken in board, they will have to be quick, very quick!  Anyway, there is a great day of action to look forward to and don't forget to watch Stratford to!  Have a good day everyone, enjoy the sunshine and the racing!
