Vernon Subutex (pictured above, image property of RacingTV) ran out a good winner of the 2m6½f handicap chase at Stratford yesterday afternoon under Philip Armson on his British debut.  He jumped well and stayed on in good style, producing a good performance to concede plenty of weight to the runner-up.  Unfortunately, he did finish a little sore, so will probably require a spell on the sidelines, but will be given all the time and attention that he needs.

Lady Reset ran another cracking race on Saturday, finishing runner-up in the 1m2f flat handicap at Doncaster.  She was trying to concede 15lbs to the younger winner and simply does not know how to run a bad race.

There is a busy day ahead with five meetings taking place today with a jumps card from Ffos Las and flat fixtures from Carlisle, Redcar, Leicester and Windsor.  David has one runner this afternoon as Mr Tambourine Man contests the 2m4f handicap hurdle at Ffos Las at 2.20pm.  A good winner last time over jumps at Exeter over 2m5½f, he is 8lbs higher this afternoon, which will make life tougher.  With a non-runner in the field, there are just four competitors remaining, three of which won last time out.  It is a tight little race but he has claims with Tom Scudamore in the saddle.

Godolphin continued their flying start to the flat season by adding a 1-3 in the French 2,000 Guineas to the 1-2 they enjoyed in the English version.  Modern Games, winner of last season's Breeder's Cup Juvenile Turf, ran out a ready winner despite a heart-stopping moment when he stumbled early on.  The royal blue team really do have an embarrassment of riches in this division and it will be interesting to see what they have for the middle distance contests later on.

West Ham ensured that the Premiership will go down to the wire by holding leaders Manchester City to a 2-2 draw yesterday afternoon.  City have played one more game than Liverpool and have a four point advantage.  Liverpool legend, Steven Gerard's Aston Villa are the only one's who can stop City from winning the title...how ironic would that be?!

Meanwhile, Liverpool lifted the FA Cup over the weekend, beating Chelsea 6-5 on penalties after a goalless match.  Liverpool still have a chance at a historic quadruple, as they still have the Champions League final to play, although they will need Manchester City to stumble in the Premiership.
