Exciting Dual Purpose Prospect

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with a flat card from Nottingham, an all-weather flat fixture from Kempton and two jumps fixtures from Ludlow and Sedgefield.  David has one runner today as Oneonechop contests the juvenile hurdle at Ludlow at 1.00pm.  A six time winner on the flat in France at up to a mile, he has taken well to hurdling, finishing in the frame in all bar one of his six starts over timber.  He was disappointing last time, but the ground was softer than advertised that day and if he bounces back to his best he would have each-way claims under Fergus Gillard.

Although we didn't have any runners yesterday, we were busy nonetheless and claimed one off the flat at Leicester, Trusty Scout who finished a close second in the 1m2f seller.  He seemed to stay well enough and could be a fun dual-purpose horse for his new owners.

I hope a few of you were on yesterday's selection, Pied Piper, who ran out a good winner of the 1m2f handicap at Leicester for the Queen.  Proven on the ground and a sure stayer, he came home four lengths to the good and at the rewarding price of 7/1.

I see that the Glazer brothers, who own the controlling stake in Manchester United are courting more unrest amongst the fans by offering 9.5 million shares with a value of over £135,000,000 for sale.  They already sold 5 million shares in March, fuelling the bad feeling among fans who were actively protesting only five months ago and caused the fixture against Liverpool to be postponed.  The owners have pledged to make shares available to fans, although time will tell if that is the case.

Did you hear about the supermarket warehouse operative who was injured when crushed by a pallet of toilet rolls?  He was promptly taken to the hospital where doctors said that he was suffering from soft-tissue injuries.
