There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat action from Beverley, Yarmouth and Sandown and a jumps card from Kelso.  The standard is pretty good for midweek meetings with both Yarmouth and Sandown hosting Listed contests.  The Yarmouth race at 2.15pm is a 1m2f fillies' contest and Ville de Grace has been in good form this season without getting her head in front.  Trained by Sir Michael Stoute and ridden by Ryan Moore, she could prove a bit of each-way value against the favourite.  Meanwhile, over at Sandown, the previously progressive Mostahdaf looks a worthy favourite for the 3.30pm.

I flagged up Global Esteem to win at Yarmouth yesterday at the rewarding odds of 11/2 and he rarely looked in trouble.  Hopefully we can repeat the dose today!

There are no runners from the Pond House team today with the next possible runners at Plumpton on Sunday.

Chelsea began their Champions League defence in the best possible fashion last night with a hard-fought win over Zenit St Petersburg.  It was not such good news for Manchester United however as they were beaten 2-1 by Swiss champions Young Boys.  United played for almost an hour with only ten men after Wan-Bissaka was sent off for a dangerous challenge.  It is early days, but United will be hoping to get something out of their next match against Villareal in a fortnight in a replay of last season's Europa Cup final.

The Champions League action continues tonight with Manchester City and Liverpool both in action.

Why did Mozart hate chickens? Because when he asked them for their favorite composer, they said, “Bach! Bach! Bach!”
