There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Huntingdon and Worcester a flat fixture from Chester and an all-weather flat fixture from Chelmsford City.  David has three runners today at Worcester; Meep Meep Mag, Mr Clarkson and Lady Reset.  Meep Meep Mag (pictured above) is the first of our runners as she contests the 2m4f mares' maiden hurdle at 3.05pm.  The winner of an Irish point-to-point and a bumper, she is a tough little mare who has a tremendous attitude.  She is returning from an absence of 497 days but she is in good form at home, we know she jumps and stays and looks to have decent claims under David Noonan.

Mr Clarkson runs in the 2m7f handicap hurdle at 4.07pm.  Three times a winner from higher marks in the past, he is weighted to go well and took a big step back in the right direction when a close third at Newton Abbot last time.  Indeed, he may well have finished even closer but for being impeded on the home turn.  He is on the same mark today and whilst he may prefer a bit more cut in the ground, he has won on good going in the past.  This is an open race but he looks to have a good chance.  David Noonan takes the ride.

Lady Reset is our final runner in the 2m conditional jockeys' handicap hurdle at 4.40pm.  A dual winner on the level, she has shown aptitude for hurdles, finishing a close second on her penultimate start over timber at Stratford last season.  She is 3lbs higher in the weights now but the prevailing good ground is in her favour.  Fergus Gillard can claim 3lbs off her back in this race and she looks to have each-way claims.

We drew a blank yesterday afternoon, although Dock Of The Bay ran a mighty race in the novices' hurdle at Fontwell on his first start for the stable and his first outing for over 1,000 days.  He is entitled to improve for this first run after such a break, whilst the experience will also have taught him plenty and he looks sure to be winning sooner rather than later based on this evidence.  Doyen La Lutte was far from disgraced in the bumper and she looks as though she will benefit from a softer surface, whilst Percy Street was not beaten at all far on his first start back from a break.

Over at Newton Abbot, To Fly Free was in the process of running a nice race for the David Pipe Racing Club when coming down at the last.  She looked as though she would finish in the frame and is another that should be winning before long.

Chelsea beat Real Madrid 2-0 last night to progress to the final of the Champions' League and set-up an all English final against Manchester City.  What a tremendous achievement, mind you, it does seem a little daft that they will have to travel to Istanbul during a pandemic to contest the final.  Why not just hold it at Wembley?

There is Europa League action tonight and Arsenal and Manchester United will be hoping to make this an all English final too.  United hold a commanding advantage against Roma, although Arsenal have a one goal deficit to overcome tonight.

The front doorbell rang the other day and when I opened it my mother-in-law was there with a suitcase.
"Can I stay here for a few days?" she asked.
"Of course you can," I said...and shut the door in her face.
