Haye Goes Toe To Toe

What a joke the heavyweight title fight was - David Haye was given a real hiding by Wladimir Klitschko and then complained about his performance being affected by a broken toe...it wasn't even his big toe!  I remember Peter Scudamore riding with a broken bone in his wrist and you hear of other jockeys riding with broken collar bones, yet David Haye blames a broken little toe for his dismal failure - it's hard to believe.  Where was the Hayemaker?  It was more like a hay maker - sorry if that is a bit corny for you!

It gets worse though, they had Audley Harrison on the telephone "I need one warm-up fight and then I will be ready to fight".  One thing is for sure, Sky will struggle to find all the mugs (myself included) to pay for another David Haye fight.  What would Clay, Foreman, Lewis or even a young Tyson have done to these two heavyweights?

A better heavyweight contest was certainly that of So You Think and Workforce in the Eclipse at Sandown on Saturday.  They produced a thrilling finish with the Aidan O'Brien Australian import coming out on top by 1/2 length from last year's Derby and Arc hero.  There is talk of a rematch between the pair over 1m4f, but I don't think that will ever happen - when you have a horse with as much speed as So You Think, who has so many other alternatives why would connections be tempted to go further than his optimum distance.  I didn't think Workforce lost anything in defeat and will take some beaten in the Arc again in the Autumn.

At least we were treated to a competitive match in the final of the men's tennis from Wimbledon between Novak Djokovich and Rafael Nada.  Djokovic was tremendous and the Serb is now the world's number one player and deservedly so.

P.S.  The bad new is that David Haye is going to fight on...the good news is that hopefully Audley Harrison will have his phone cut off!
