There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps card from Hereford and Wetherby and all-weather flat fixtures from Wolverhampton and Kempton.  David has two runners this afternoon; Umbrigado and Hugo 'N Taz.  Umbrigado contests the 1m7f handicap chase at Wetherby at 2.05pm.  He has taken well to fences, finishing second to a useful rival on his debut before winning last time out at Fontwell over 2m3f.  He will certainly get further than this, although he has won at the minimum distance.  He won't mind the ground and looks to have a decent chance despite the burden of topweight.  Tom Scudamore is in the saddle.

Our other runner is Hugo 'N Taz who runs in the 3m handicap chase at 3.12pm.  He won the Lincolnshire National on his debut for the stable last season but has been unable to replicate that in three starts since.  He has slipped to a reasonable mark however, just 1lb higher than when last successful.  He stays well and should handle the conditions and looks to have each-way claims under Tom Scudamore.

The Grand National weights were announced yesterday afternoon and David's representative, Vieux Lion Rouge has been allotted 10-5.  He is currently number 49 in the list which means he doesn't automatically get a run (the field size limit is 40), although historically, he is all but certain to get a run.

Liverpool did well to beat RB Leipzig 2-0 away from home last night in the first leg of their Champions' League last 16 match.  The bookmakers had the match priced up tightly so it was a good performance and the away goals certainly stand them in good stead ahead of the second leg.

The Australian Open tennis is getting towards the business end now and there haven't been many shocks, although world number one Ashleigh Barty was beaten by Karoline Muchova to reach the semi-finals of the ladies.  That result could certainly have opened up things for Serena Williams who was excellent in beating Simona Halep yesterday.

I'm sure this resonates with a lot of people during lockdown...

I watch so much Netflix that, rather than suggesting more shows for me to watch, it’s started suggesting I go outside!
