Entries & Recent Form

Hopefully there are two meetings taking place this afternoon with Exeter needing to pass an inspection yesterday afternoon.  There are no such issues at Southwell where they are hosting an all-weather flat fixture.  David has four runners today; Dusky Hercules, Martinhal, Mr Clarkson and Shoot To Fame.  Dusky Hercules represents the David Pipe Racing Club in the 2m7f conditional jockeys' handicap hurdle at 1.10pm.  He got stuck in the terrible ground on his seasonal debut at Chepstow in November.  A winner last season over course, distance and on soft ground from a 2lbs lower mark, a reproduction of that effort would give him a chance under Fergus Gillard.

Martinhal contests the 2m1f novices' hurdle at 1.40pm.  The winner of a heavy ground bumper at Huntingdon last season, he has run creditably in a couple of competitive hurdles this season.  Conditions should suit and he looks to hold each-way claims under Tom Scudamore.

Mr Clarkson runs in the 3m handicap chase at 3.10pm.  He was unlucky not to score at Taunton last time, looking the likeliest winner when unseating at the penultimate fence.  He is 3lbs higher this afternoon and he has topweight of 11-13 to contend with in this very competitive contest.  Regular rider David Noonan is in the saddle and he looks to have an each-way chance.

Shoot To Fame contests the 2m5½f handicap hurdle at 3.40pm.  A point-to-point winner, she has shown some promise in bumpers and novices' events over hurdles.  She makes her handicap debut this afternoon and with conditions to suit, she is another that looks to have place claims with Fergus Gillard taking a useful 5lbs off her back.

The Masters snooker gets underway this afternoon in Milton Keynes.  The top 16 players in the world are invited to participate in this Triple Crown contest which is traditionally held at the Ally Pally.  Stuart Bingham is the defending champion but he has a tall order on his hands to beat the likes of world number one Judd Trump.

The American Football Super Wildcard Weekend continues this evening with another three matches taking place.  Tonight's games look a lot tighter with the Ravens and Titans facing off, whilst the Browns and Steelers is also a toss-up.  Meanwhile, the Saints should be far too good for the Bears.

A book just fell on my head...I've only got myshelf to blame.

I'm not a fan of innuendos, but I do try to slip one in occasionally.
