There are (hopefully!) four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps action from Chepstow, Kempton and Wetherby as well as an all-weather flat fixture from Wolverhampton.  Chepstow needs to survive an early morning inspection as they have had loads of rain throughout the week.  Indeed, they had 65mm on Wednesday night alone and even if the meeting gets the go ahead, it is going to be extremely attritional.  David has three runners today; Ramses de Teillee and Vieux Lion Rouge in the Welsh National at Chepstow and Remastered at Wetherby.

Ramses de Teillee runs at 2.50pm.  He ran a great race when runner-up in the Welsh National two years ago and has already shown his wellbeing this season by winning over fences at Cheltenham on his penultimate start.  He disappointed in the Becher last time, but didn't really seem at home over the unique Aintree fences.  He jumps, stays and handles the ground and should go well once again in a fiercely competitive contest, although he is 9lbs higher this time around.  Tom Scu is in the saddle and he has each-way claims.

Vieux Lion Rouge (pictured above) is our other runner in the Welsh National and the popular veteran put up a sensational performance when he bolted-up in the Becher Chase at Aintree last time.  The handicapper took a dim view, putting him up by 12lbs as a consequence, but he is 8lbs 'well-in' here under a 4lbs penalty.  Whether he can replicate that performance over regulation fences, we will see, but he is another that will relish a test such as this and Conor O'Farrell gets on with him well.  Another with each-way chances.

Over at Wetherby, Remastered contests the 3m novices' chase at 1.00pm.  He has always looked like a chaser in the making and confirmed that impression when producing an impressive performance on his chase debut at Carlisle last time and a reproduction of the effort would give him every chance here under David Noonan.

Let's hope that the racing can go ahead and fingers crossed for a festive winner or two!
