Merry Christmas everybody!  This year has certainly been a challenging one but we hope that you can enjoy a safe and happy day.  Things carry on very much as usual around the yard.  The horses still need to be fed and exercised and there will be several members of staff on hand to ensure that their needs are met.  Our grateful thanks go to all of the team for their continued dedication to the horses in their charge.

With a dearth of sporting action taking place this afternoon, I hope you will excuse today's column being a little shorter than usual.  There is no racing on these shores until tomorrow, although as I mentioned earlier in the week, over in France there is a jumps card taking place at Cagnes Sur Mer.  I don't suppose those jocks will be tucking into too much Christmas dinner.

If you didn't get what you wanted for Christmas this year, don't be disappointed!  Why not treat yourself instead to a membership to the David Pipe Racing Club?  Membership starts at just £100 for 12 months and offers a great, fun and interactive experience for those involved.  The club currently has six horses in training (pictured above).  More details can be found by clicking here...

I saw in yesterday's Racing Post, they were tipping up the Minnesota Vikings as one of the "12 Plays of Christmas".  They play the New Orleans Saints tonight at 9.30pm with the season very much on the line - I wish I shared their confidence.  In fairness, the Vikes have very much been a thorn in the side of the Saints recently, knocking them out in the play-offs in the last two years, although I have my doubts that the defence is good enough this time around.  Even so, it should be a high-scoring and entertaining game.  As usual, for better or worse, I will be watching!

Have you heard that production is down in Santa's workshop this year?  Many of his workforce had to elf isolate!

Why are Santa’s reindeer allowed to travel on Christmas Eve? They have herd immunity.
