There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Exeter, Sandown and Southwell, whilst there is an all-weather flat fixture from Newcastle.  David has two runners at Exeter today; Red Lion Lad and Buster Edwards.  Red Lion Lad contests the 2m NH novices' hurdle at 12.55pm and it looks a wide-open event with plenty of runners and not an abundance of form to go on.  Red Lion lad won his only start in an Irish point-to-point on soft/heavy groun in March convincingly by 10 lengths.  He looks a nice prospect and looks to have each-way claims under Tom Scudamore.

Our other runner, Buster Edwards (pictured above) contests the 3m6f handicap chase at 3.15pm.  The ground is soft (heavy in places) and paired with this stiff track, it is certainly going to take some getting.  Fortunately Buster Edwards has stamina in abundance and is only 1lb above his las winning hurdling mark and can be given a chance on that basis.  He ran well on his first two starts over fences this season, although hasn't been quite as good the last twice and will need to improve on those efforts to figure.  David Noonan is in the saddle.

What A Moment fared best of our three runners at Wincanton yesterday afternoon, finishing third in the staying chase.  He has had plenty of problems down the years, but this was certainly a step in the right direction so it would be great if he could go on and build on this.

Spurs could only draw 3-3 with LASK in their Europa League match last night, with manager Jose Mourinho less than impressed by their performance.  Nonetheless, they have done enough to progress to the knockout stages which is more than you can say for Leicester, who were beaten 1-0 by Zorya Luhansk last night.  Leicester may still need to win their final match to go through.

Judd Trump continued his fine form in the UK snooker championships yesterday and he will clearly remain extremely difficult to beat.  The quarter final match between Mark Selby and Neil Robertson today promises to be a thriller.  Robertson won their last meeting 6-5 in what Stephen Hendry described as "the best eleven frame match I have ever seen".
