Paricolor provided the stable with another winner when scoring at Leicester on Sunday.  Our four year old was given a sensible ride by Fergus Gillard, chasing the leader until taking up the running at the third last.  He was always doing enough in the closing stages to see off his rivals and win a shade cosily.  This was his second success at the track in less than a fortnight and he is entered there again on Thursday.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumping action from Ayr and Fakenham, whilst there are all-weather flat fixtures from Kempton and Wolverhampton.  There are no runners from the Pond House team today, although we will be back with runners at Lingfield tomorrow.

Well done to stable jockey Tom Scudamore who landed the Ladbroke Trophy on Cloth Cap at Newbury on Saturday.  He gave his mount a fantastic front-running ride to land the prestigious handicap.

There was some cracking racing at Fairyhouse yesterday afternoon with some results that will certainly have a bearing on the Cheltenham Festival in March.  Envoi Allen was once again extremely impressive in the Grade 1 novices' chase, whilst Zanahiyr assumed favouritism for the Triumph Hurdle with an easy success in the Grade 3 juvenile hurdle.  Honeysuckle made a winning reappearance but was made to work hard to land the Hatton's Grace.

Is anybody else wondering how Romain Grosjean is still alive following his horrific crash at the start of the Bahrain Grand Prix yesterday?  The Frenchman caught the front tyre of a rival vehicle, which speared him across the track and headlong into a barrier at 137mph.  The car split in half and caught on fire with the cockpit of the vehicle splitting and lodging in the middle of the barrier.  Somehow the driver managed to free himself from the wreckage and with the assistance of the medical team, escaped with only minor injuries - burns to the hands and ankles but incredibly no broken bones.  His life was undoubtedly saved by the halo device (the circular protection bar that goes around the head of the drivers) which were fitted to the cars in 2018.  It certainly pays testament to the strength of the modern machines.  Lewis Hamilton went on to win the race...just for a change.

My beloved Minnesota Vikings managed to get the "W" against the Carolina Panthers last night, although I didn't watch it.  With little over 2 minutes to go the Vikings were trailing but were just about to get the ball back for a last attempt to win the game, only for punt returner Chad Beebe to fumble the ball and hand it straight back to Carolina.  At that point I switched the television off and thought no more of it until checking my betting account later that night.  You can imagine my surprise when my friendly bookmaker informed me that they had somehow won 28-27!  The win means they are now only one win behind Arizona for the race for the last wildcard spot in the playoffs...incredible, it has certainly been a rollercoaster season to date.

There were a couple of surprises in the UK Open snooker over the weekend with Ronnie O'Sullivan, Mark Allen and Ding Junhui all losing.  Judd Trump progressed to the third round as did Neil Robertson.
