                   Bumpy Johnson
       Makes His Hurdling Debut Today

It is a busy day for the yard with six runners spread across two meetings today.  We have two runners at Wetherby, Ranco and Thedabber and four runners at Hereford, Bumpy Johnson, Delface, Miss Tynte and Elan De Balme.  The first runner of the day is Bumpy Johnson at Hereford in the first race, a novice hurdle due off at 12.05pm and Tom Scudamore rides.  He was impressive in winning a bumper at Fontwell on his sole start for the yard so far and is tackling hurdles for the first time this afternoon, although he has run in an Irish point to point.  He has a good engine and fingers crossed he should get our day off to a nice start.

Delface is our second runner at Hereford, he runs in the 1.40pm chase with Fergus Gillard riding.  He was a shade disappointing on his comeback run at Ffos Las last time but I think being up with the pace that day in such testing conditions probably took his toll.  He should improve for that run and while not one to explicitly to rely on, Fergus taking seven pounds off is a great help and he has run well at this track before.  Miss Tynte runs in the mares handicap hurdle on the card and she does have to improve on what she has done so far this season to figure.  Elan De Balme is the final runner at Hereford and he runs in the 3.20pm handicap chase with Tom Scu in the saddle.  He was a little disappointing for the yard last season when arriving from France but it was much more like it on his return at Ffos Las last time.  Fingers crossed he can build on that this afternoon now stepped up in distance.

Ranco is our first runner of the day at Wetherby and he goes in the juevnile hurdle at 12.15pm with David Noonan riding.  He was a little disappointing on his stable debut over hurdles at Southwell but he has undergone wind surgery since and we just hope he can finish his race better today.  He is a dual winner on the flat in France and shows good ability at home so hopefully we can get back on track today.  Thedabber makes her stable and rules debut in the first division of the mares bumper at 3pm.  She was the winner of her sole start in an Irish point to point and goes well at home.  Her future is obviously going to be over obstacles and probably over further in time but this is a nice starting point and although it looks fairly competitive we hope she can run well.

Yesterday, Neon Moon made a pleasing enough debut in the bumper at Southwell.  In hindsight the sharp track did probably not suit him and ideally he would have preferred them to go a stronger gallop in the race itself but he kept galloping all the way to the line to finish fourth.  I think this will work out as a pretty decent race and although it is yet to be decided whether our four year old will have another bumper run or be sent over hurdles we think he has a bright future.
