There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps fixtures from Ludlow, Sedgefield and Taunton supported by an all-weather flat card from Chelmsford City.  David has one runner today as Miss Tynte (pictured above) contests the 2m3f mares' handicap hurdle at Taunton at 4.15pm.  A winner three times over hurdles, she is back down to her last winning mark and can be given claims on that basis, although she has been disappointing in two starts this season and needs to improve on those efforts to figure.  Kieron Edgar is in the saddle.  Taunton makes a rare appearance on terrestrial television with a couple of races broadcast on ITV4 which is great news for our local track.

Today is very much like the calm before the storm as tomorrow sees the start of Cheltenham's three day November meeting, a card that is traditionally the first big early season target of the stable.  David posted a video with his early thoughts on the card in his blog on Monday, so why not take a look at that if you have not already?  We will have three runners at Cheltenham on Friday...exciting times indeed!

Nobel Joshua ran a good race to finish runner-up in the conditional jockeys' staying handicap hurdle at Exeter.  He is still unexposed at the trip and there should be a similar race in him before long.  Eden du Houx ran better to finish fourth in a decent looking novices' handicap chase he jumped and travelled well for a long way, whilst Mr Clarkson stayed on in the closing stages to pick up a respectable fifth on his seasonal reappearance.

England take on the Republic of Ireland tonight at Wembley stadium.  The home team were actually due to play New Zealand although travel plans and player availability due to the ongoing pandemic meant that the match was cancelled.  This is the first time England have played Ireland in five years.  With not a lot to play for it would be no surprise to see the game end in a draw like their last five meetings.

The Masters Golf gets underway from Augusta today, nineteen months after Tiger Woods memorably won the last staging of the event.  It will certainly be interesting to see how a November edition of the tournament looks instead of the traditional April fixture.

I asked 100 women which shampoo they used.  Almost all of them said, "How the hell did you get in here?!"
