There are three jumps meetings taking place this afternoon with the action coming from Aintree, Hexham and Wincanton.  It is a busy day for the stable with a couple of runners at Aintree and two more at Wincanton.  Iron Heart and Teaser run at Wincanton, whilst popular veteran's Vieux Lion Rouge (pictured above) and Dell' Arca represent the Pond House team at Aintree.

Iron Heart makes his debut for the stable in the juvenile hurdle at Wincanton at 1.07pm.  A dual-winner on the flat at upto 1m4f, he certainly will not mind the quick surface having won on firm ground on the level.  He has done plenty of schooling at home and jumps well and looks to have a decent chance under David Noonan.  Our other runner at Wincanton is Teaser who contests the 2m5½f handicap hurdle at 3.27pm.  He travelled much better for a long way last time after a little break and is back to his last winning mark over hurdles.  He will like the ground and could out-run his odds under David Noonan.

Over at Aintree Vieux Lion Rouge runs in the 3m1f veterans' handicap chase at 1.22pm.  He loves the track, although sadly this race is not held over the Grand National fences!  He has been a tremendous horse through the years and landed one of these contests on his seasonal debut from this mark at Chepstow last season.  The veterans' races are always extremely competitive but he looks to have a good chance under Tom Scudamore.

Dell' Arca runs in the 3m½f conditional jockeys' handicap hurdle at 3.07pm.  He ran a good third on his penultimate start at Uttoxeter before getting stuck in the mud last time.  This sounder surface should suit and whilst perhaps not the force of old, he has consequently dropped to a fair mark.  Fergus Gillard claims 6lbs off his back and he could run well at a decent price.

There are three Premiership matches taking place this afternoon with the pick looking to be late game between Arsenal and Leicester, with both teams prominent in the table.  Arsenal look to be the likeliest winners.  Kick-off is at 7.15pm

I am spared the pain of watching the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL this weekend as they are on a bye week.  In the other games the Bills should get back on the winning track against the hapless Jets, whilst defending champions Kansas City Chiefs should be far too good for the Broncos and much as I hate to say it, the Packers should beat the Texans...maybe a little multiple is on the cards?

Why did the maths book look so sad?  Because of all it's problems!
