Although drawing a blank, the runners over the weekend all performed with credit.  Ramses de Teillee finished fifth in the French Champion Hurdle at Auteuil on Saturday, earning over £10,000 in the process, whilst Lady Reset was unlucky not to score under Isabel Williams at Stratford in the female jockeys' handicap hurdle.  A mistake at the last was probably the difference between victory and defeat and she should be winning something similar soon.  Elan de Balme was third in the conditional jockeys' handicap chase and he too ran creditably to finish third.  This was a big step in the right direction and hopefully he can now build on this.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat action from Pontefract, Windsor and Wolverhampton as well as a jumps fixture from Plumpton although there are no runners from the Pond House team today.

What an incredible day of action we saw on Champions' Day at Ascot on Saturday.  Girlfriend and boyfriend Hollie Doyle carved up the majority of the card - the young couple both riding a double on the day which included Marquand landing the big race of the day, the Champion Stakes aboard Addeybb.

Everton remain top of the Premiership after a 2-2 draw with local rivals Liverpool on Saturday, whilst Aston Villa are second after beating Leicester 1-0 away from home.  Through five games, Villa have only conceded two goals.

There was a great final to the English Open snooker championship last night as world number one edged out Neil Robertson 9-8.  It looked as though Robertson would prevail as he led 7-4, but Trump staged a great rally to take it in the decider.  These two are clearly the best players in the world right now, with Trump making this his tenth successive ranking tournament final victory - only one behind Stephen Hendry's record.

Another weekend of misery for me as I watched the Minnesota Vikings make a hitherto winless team look like Superbowl contenders in the NFL.  They were beaten 40-23 by the Atlanta Falcons at home in an embarrassing performance.  The Falcons fired their General Manager and Head Coach last week.

I took the shell off my racing snail yesterday thinking that it would make him faster.  Turns out it made him more sluggish!
