There are two meetings taking place this afternoon with the action coming from Kelso and Uttoxeter over the sticks.  Incredibly, as I write this, the official going is good (good/firm in places) at both courses with Kelso actually having had to water the ground to get it to that.  With rain forecast that could quite easily alter - I hope for Kelso's sake they don't get too much as we all know what happens when you get significant rain on watered ground.

Of course, the main focus today will be on Longchamp where Enable bids for a historic third success in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at 3.05pm.  It would be fantastic if John Gosden's six year old wonder mare could sign off her incredible career with victory here.  I am sure there will be tears from Dettori win, lose or draw.  Enable has been a tremendous asset for racing - she belongs to the public now which is unusual with most of the very best horses packed off to stud at the end of their three year old careers.  The race will be covered by ITV which is excellent news, make sure you tune in!

Following the scare over a number of runners owing to contaminated feed, I see that Aidan O'Brien's horses were allowed to run at Longchamp yesterday.  That is good as O'Brien is five-handed in the Arc and the field would have been decimated if the tests returned positive.

There are half a dozen Premiership matches taking place this afternoon with Manchester United versus Spurs looking the pick of the day.  They kick-off at 4.30pm.

My beloved Minnesota Vikings take on the Houston Texans this evening.  Both have 100% records this season...of losing!  Something has to give tonight...Skol you Vikes!

My wife says that she is fed up with me acting like a detective.  She said, "We should split up!".

I said, "Good idea, that way we can cover more ground!"
