There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with the action coming on the level at Catterick and Goodwood and over the sticks at Newton Abbot.  Meanwhile, over in Ireland there is a mixed card from Punchestown and despite no stand-out race and unexceptional prize money, the smallest field on their seven race card has thirteen runners.  David has four runners at Newton Abbot this afternoon; Percy Street, Broughtons Admiral, Story Of Friends and Midnight Magic.

Percy Street contests the selling hurdle at 1.30pm and even though he is not favoured by the weights, he possesses the ability to figure in a race of this nature.  He produced two excellent efforts in defeat before disappointing on horrendous ground at Bangor last time.  That can easily be forgiven and he has sound claims under Tom Scudamore.

Broughtons Admiral and Story Of Friends contest the 3m2½f handicap hurdle at 2.40pm.  Broughtons Admiral is making his debut for the stable and his first start for 220 days.  He had some good form for previous connections and has earned topweight of 11-12.  He is versatile with regard to ground having won on good and heavy going, but is 9lbs above his last winning mark so this is going to be harder.  David Noonan is in the saddle.  Story Of Friends (pictured above) produced a good effort to win easily over course and distance last week and he runs here with a 7lbs penalty which puts him 1lb ahead of the handicapper.  This is more competitive, but he must go well again under Tom Scudamore.

Our final runner is Midnight Magic who runs in the staying handicap chase at 3.50pm.  He has shown consistent form in this grade and whilst he has only won once, he has been runner-up over course and distance twice.  He is only 4lbs higher than when winning at Wincanton and with conditions to suit, he should be right there again under Jack Tudor.

The final T20 match in the three game series between England and Australia gets underway this evening in Southampton.  England have already won the series and will be without Jos Buttler for this game so it could be very tight.  Buttler will be back for the first one day match between the two sides later in the week.
