Percy Runs At Fontwell

The stable has one runner this afternoon as Percy Street (pictured above) contests the 2m3f handicap hurdle at Fontwell at 2.45pm.  He ran his best race for some time at Newton Abbot on his last appearance, bustling up a very progressive winner.  He is 2lbs higher this afternoon but is still 1lb lower than his last winning mark.  A repeat of his latest effort would give him every chance here and he looks to have sound claims under Tom Scudamore.

Yesterday was a bit of a disappointment with Le Grand Rocher's chances hindered by a bad mistake in the home straight whilst still upsides.  He went on to finish fifth.  Story Of Friends was not disgraced in filling the same position in the 2m4f handicap hurdle.  The ease in the ground would not have suited and he just looked a little short of pace.  A winning Irish pointer, perhaps a slightly stiffer test of stamina may suit?

We were fortunate to secure the facile winner of the 1m4f claimer at Clairefontaine yesterday afternoon.  Adagio absolutely bolted up by eight lengths under Christophe Soumillon, giving the runner-up (a 73 rated flat performer) an 18lbs beating.  His previous form has also been boosted several times so he looks very exciting.  Unsurprisingly he did not remain for sale for very long!  Keep your eye out for him over the coming weeks and months.

England and Pakistan played out a draw on the final day of the second test match, with bad light delaying any play until 3.20pm.  England are 1-0 up in the series.

As you may know by now, I am a huge American Football fan and I see that there are plans for the Superbowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs to host their season opener to a limited capacity crowd.  Arrowhead Stadium will be open at a 22% capacity, but that is still in the region of 12,000 people!  There is obviously some difference of opinion on the matter moving forward however with the Chicago Bears announcing that their opening match will be held behind closed doors owing to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, whilst there have been many individual players who have opted out of the season on health grounds.
