There are four meetings taking place on these shores today and the action is once again all on the level.  Chepstow, Chester, Lingfield and Pontefract all host flat cards, so if you are craving a bit of jumping you will have to satisfy yourself with Tramore.  The big race of the day over here is the Listed fillies' sprint at Pontefract at 2.50pm.  Typically though, the best card of the day is at the Curragh where they have a Listed race as well as a couple of Group 3's on the menu.

Talking of Irish racing, there were records broken at Leopardstown yesterday when Luke Comer's He Knows No Fear Landed the 1m maiden.  The three year old son of Mourayan stayed on in fine style to catch the favourite close home in an exciting if unremarkable race, but in so doing he became the longest-priced winner in British or Irish racing history as he belied odds of 300/1!  Connections had backed him at a big price when missing the break and finishing down the field on his only previous start, yet ironically did not have a penny on this time.

In new government measures, people returning from France will now have to self-isolate for 14 days which could make life difficult for trainers wishing to race over there.  Staff travelling with the horses will need to quarantine and at present it is unclear if the French will reciprocate the measures which would make it all but impossible to compete.  We will have to see how this develops.

In Sheffield, the semi-finals of the snooker world championship are coming to a conclusion.  Ronnie O'Sullivan heads into this morning's session against Mark Selby 9-7 behind having seen a 5-3 lead wiped away.  Selby is particularly good in these longer format matches and has the game to send O'Sullivan crazy. 'The Rocket' who was visibly rattled yesterday as at one point he punched the table frustration.  In the other semi, Kyren Wilson turned around an early deficit to lead Anthony McGill 13-11, needing just four more frames to land a place in a first world championship final.

Despite the clamp down on people re-entering the country from overseas, the government continues to ease restrictions with spectators now allowed back into the Crucible to view the final this weekend.  It sounds like 'go out but don't go out' all over again!
