M's Southwell Success

The stable enjoyed a nice winner at Southwell yesterday afternoon when Miss M ran out a ready winner of the mares' novices' hurdle under Tom Scudamore.  She travelled nicely throughout and moved into contention off the home turn and despite a slightly awkward leap at the last, she came away to score nicely on her debut over hurdles.  She was a tough and genuine sort on the level and had no luck in running last time out, but for which she would probably have been much shorter than her SP of 22/1.  This was a very pleasing first effort over hurdles and hopefully she can progress and rank higher still.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat action from Haydock, Lingfield and Wolverhampton, whilst there is a jumps card from Perth.  We have one runner today with last time out chase winner, Leoncavallo returning to the flat in the 1m6f handicap at Haydock at 5.30pm.  He was extremely good last time out at Stratford and was only narrowly beaten on the flat the time before at Sandown from a 3lbs lower mark.  This is a competitive 16 runner handicap but he looks sure to go well in the hands of James Doyle who has won on him previously.

Ronnie O'Sullivan (who, don't forget would need to lose an arm and a leg to drop out of the top 50) is in a bit of trouble as he resumes his quarter-final match with former world champion Mark Williams 6-2.  Last year's winner Judd Trump is 10-6 down to Kyren Wilson, whilst another former champion, Neil Robertson is in a lot of trouble as he trails Mark Selby 11-5 in their best of 25 frame match.

Manchester United made it through to the semi-finals of the Europa League last night with a 1-0 win over Copenhagen thanks to an extra time penalty.  They could face Wolves in the semi finals if they beat Sevilla tonight.

I went for a job interview the other day.  They asked me if I can perform under pressure.  I said, "I don't know about that, but I can have a good crack at Bohemian Rhapsody"!

My wife said the other day that I never buy her flowers.  I didn't even know she sold flowers!
