There are three flat meetings taking place this afternoon with the action all coming on the level from Haydock, Yarmouth and the traditional Monday night meeting from Windsor.  There are no runners from the Pond House team today, although we will be back with a couple of runners tomorrow at Southwell's additional jumps fixture.

Our sole flat runner, Golden Jeffrey didn't manage to reach the frame at Chepstow on Saturday afternoon.  Even so, he is on a decent mark on the level and over hurdles so it would be no surprise to see him pop up at some point.

It was a shame that there were no crowds allowed at Goodwood on Saturday following the hold to the governments easing of the lockdown.  Around 300 people were allowed into the Crucible in Sheffield for the snooker on Friday, but that was reversed by day two.  It is frustrating, but we have to adhere to the government guidelines at this time.

There was a thrilling finish to the British Grand Prix at Silverstone yesterday, even if the previous 50 laps had been predictably dull with Mercedes dominating from flag fall.  Bottas Mercedes punctured a front left tyre with two laps to go and a similar fate befell Lewis Hamilton on the final lap.  Sadly Red Bull made a catastrophic error to bring their lead driver Max Verstappen in to the pits, but for which he would have caught and passed Hamilton for sure.  With Pirelli supposedly using a softer compound of tyres at the track this coming weekend, the life expectancy of tyres will theoretically be even shorter so that could make things a little more interesting.

Ronnie O'Sullivan made a flying start to his world championship snooker campaign over the weekend, leading 8-1 overnight in his first round match.  Things were much tougher for defending champion Judd Trump, who edged a 10-8 victory over Tom Ford.  Meanwhile, Neil Robertson looked good in beating talented Liang Wenbo 10-5.
