The long trip up to Cartmel was to no avail yesterday, although both of our runners performed creditably.  I'lletyougonow plugged on to finish third in the 2m1f novices' hurdle.  She has filled the frame on her last two starts over timber and is now eligible for handicaps.  A winner on the flat, she certainly looks capable of winning something similar.  Paricolor was in the process of running a good first race over fences when coming to grief at the third last.  He was still going well at the time and seemed sure to have been involved in the finish.  He has jumped nicely up to that point and he is certainly going to be winning over fences sooner rather than later.

What a great performance from Enable to win her third King George at Ascot on Saturday, becoming the first horse to achieve that feat.  Whilst there were only three runners, she has trounced last year's clear Irish Derby winner so it was no mean performance.  It will be her toughest test, but you still wouldn't say that she can't land a historic third Arc as well.  It is remarkable how well she maintains her form at the age of six when she could quite easily have been retired to the paddocks.

There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with flat fixtures from Redcar and Windsor and a jumps meeting from Market Rasen.  There are no runners from the Pond House team today, although stable jockeys Tom Scudamore and David Noonan have both picked up an outside ride in the 4.30pm at Rasen.  It is a 500 mile round trip for them, so there is bound to be some friendly rivalry here!

Manchester United beat Leicester 2-0 yesterday afternoon to secure third spot in the Premiership and an all-important place in the Champions League, whilst Leicester will be bitterly disappointed with fifth.  Aston Villa on the other hand will be delighted to stay up, scraping out of the relegation zone by one point.  Bournemouth, Watford and Norwich are all relegated to the Championship next season

A brilliant spell of bowling from pace bowler Stuart Broad has left England on the verge of a test series victory.  Broad took six wickets (the final four in the first innings and first two in the second) to leave the visitors on 10-2, chasing a total of 399 to win.  With two days left to play, England certainly look heavy favourites to win, although they will be hoping for a couple of dry days.
