The big match on Saturday was a disappointment (and sorry i'm not talking about Manchester United versus Barcelona!) for many fans as Torquay lost and face another year in the bottom league.  In the Champions league final Man United looked very one paced and were completely outplayed by Barcelona and even Sir Alex agreed.  I now think it is about time that United need about four new players.  A few of the players look to have got old together and the midfield looks tired and even the defence does not look as good with Rio Ferdinand not looking the player he was before all his injuries.  Maybe the Premier League is not as good as we all think it is?!  Anyway the matter of the fact is that Barcelona were very good with three or four of thier players exceptional and that was the difference between the teams.  Sir Alex did get one good result over the weekend though as son Darren's team Peterborough won the League One division play off 3-0 against Huddersfield.

I am pleased to report our young amateur jockey Kieron Edgar rode his first winner at a local point to point on Saturday.  Kieron is only 17 and has worked at Pond House for about a year now.  He rode Bold Perk to win the Novice riders race at Ideford Arch near Newton Abbot for owner/trainer Eddie Rice.  It is great for him to get off the mark and I am sure that will be the first of many in the years to come as he rides very well.  There is a point to point today at Upcott Cross which is near Okehampton.  It is a great track and you usually get some fantastic racing with good viewing and is definetely worth a visit if you can get there this afternoon.

I see that John Dunlop's Open Day over the weekend raised about £30,000 which was fantatsic.  Beatrice Aurore was the star attraction and she runs in the Oaks at Epsom on Friday.

With so much great sporting entertainment on over the weekend I was in my element and I do hope everyone enjoyed the golfing from Wentworth?  I do have one tiny point to pick up on from there though!  How can Lee Westwood's ball spin off the green into the pond during the play off yesterday?!  This was at the 18th hole which is a new layout and I think it is a bit of a joke.  I did not back Westwood but as a golfer I thought it was unfair.  I hope you all enjoy a great Bank Holiday Monday.
