It was great we learned of the news that Rodi Greene returned home on Friday after spending weeks in hospital following a nasty fall at Lingfield.  Rodi had to lie flat on his back for several weeks to allow his neck and back to heal and we believe he has been working hard in his recovery and actually left hospital in Salisbury earlier than originally expected.  Several of our staff have been visiting him in hospital and even there is a long way to go still in his recovery to full health we are delighted he is back at home and wish him well for the next stage of his recovery.

I see a lot of people are talking about the cost to go in and watch our amateur version of our sport, the point to points.  The entrance fee has gone up over the years but I think it is still good value for a day out.  It is about £20 for a car to get in and it does not matter how many people are in the car and there is usually a discount for a single drives.  I can remember going to Ottery St Mary point to point a few years ago, we managed to squeeze 12 people into the car!  I say in the car, there were a few actually in the boot and if land owner and chief of the point to point Oliver Carter knew he would turn in his grave!  Those were the good old days but I certainly recommend anyone to go point to pointing as we have some of the best racing around in the west country.  There is a point to point at Trebudannon today which is near Newquay in Cornwall.  The first race starts at 2.00pm.

I see there is a competition for the ladies at the momemnt as they are looking for the first female commentator.  The winner will get a chance to commentate on a live race at Ascot plus a cash prize of £2500!  If only I get my voice up a couple of octaves I would have a go!  You have to enter and audition at the website www.lovetheraces.com/thefilly-factor.  Richard Pitman once told me when you are commentating you have to keep speaking even if it is rubbish and you do not know what you are talking about!  If you stop for too long the public will think there is something wrong.  Richard Pitman talking rubbish, whatever next!
