There is only one meeting taking place on these shores today and that is a jumps card from Uttoxeter.  The ground there at present is soft (heavy in places) so if they have had anything like as much rain as we have, it is going to be extremely testing.  It is obvious I know, but if you are thinking of having a wager, make sure that your selection is going to handle the mud.  We were due to have a couple of runners at our local track, Exeter this afternoon. However following 55mm of rain on Friday night/Saturday morning they were unsurprisingly forced to abandon due to waterlogging. It is always a shame when the tracks lose the vital revenue that race days bring. Let’s hope they are back up and running in time for their next fixture on 6th December.

Exeter’s loss means that Story Of Friends will be our first runner of the week at Kempton on Monday in the 2m conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle.

With the new Tote group in place, it is good to see them reviving an old favourite with the Tote Ten To Follow competition.  It costs only a fiver to enter and there will be a first prize guaranteed to be at least £175,000, potentially considerably more depending on popularity.  If you fancy yourself as a bit of a judge why not have a go?  You can find out more by clicking here.

The Premiership football match this afternoon is Sheffield United versus Manchester United at 4.30pm.  Common sense says that Manchester United should be too good, but they head into this fixture behind Sheffield in the table and have a terrible record away from home.  Furthermore, they haven't won back-to-back matches in the Premiership since March.  I think I will just be watching this one!

The Betway UK snooker championship gets underway in York next week.  It is an important ranking event and the first of the "Triple Crown" tournaments.  Ronnie O'Sullivan has won it the last two years and an incredible seven times in total.  Mind you, he faces stiff competition this time around with World Champion Judd Trump and Neil Robertson in very good form at present.
