There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps action from Fakenham and Lingfield supported by all-weather cards from Kempton and Chelmsford City.  It has certainly been a chilly start to the day as you will see from the great picture above which was taken by our assitant, Ali G-P.  David has runners at both fixtures today with Paricolor running at Fakenham and Yaa Salaam and Fort Summer at Lingfield.  Paricolor contests the 2m amateur riders' handicap hurdle at 2.10pm and he will be ridden by Fergus Gillard who takes 7lbs off his back.  He was right in contention when capsizing at the penultimate hurdle at Wincanton last time and with a clear round, he must be involved in the finish.

Now to Lingfield and Fort Summer runs in the bumper at 12.30pm.  He showed promise at Southwell on his rules debut last time when third where the race was not run to suit, hopefully this will be a more strongly run affair.  It is difficult to know what he is up against as half of the field have never run but he looks to hold every chance under Tom Scudamore.  Yaa Salaam goes in the 2m novices' hurdle at 1.30pm.  He was a very useful horse on the flat in Germany and produced a particularly good effort on debut at Ffos Las last term, form that would give him every chance here.  Winning Irish pointer Hold That Taught looks to be the one to beat.

Miss Tynte finished fourth at Plumpton yesterday afternoon.  She looked to be struggling from some way out but stuck to her task.  She has looked to be in the grip of the handicapper since her Worcester success earlier in the season and could probably do with coming down a few more pounds in the weights.

The Welsh look to hold their Euro destiny in their own hands tonight as they take on Hungary tonight with an automatic qualification spot on the line.  They should be too good for the visitors at Cardiff City Stadium tonight.   Meanwhile the Irish will have to wait and see after they missed out on automatic qualification after they drew with Denmark last night.

There was bad news for local cricket side, Somerset yesterday.  They were found to guilty of preparing a poor pitch for last season's County Championship decider against Essex.  It was deemed to have an excessive uneveness of bounce.  The rain affected match finished in a draw which handed the title to Essex.  Somerset have been docked 24 points, 12 of which have been suspended for 2 years.  The Cidermen will certainly have their work cut out next season.
