There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Newmarket and Newcastle as well as jumps fixtures from Wetherby and Uttoxeter.  There are no runners from the Pond House team today and it looks as though stable jockey Tom Scudamore has decided to take the day off, whilst David Noonan has picked up an outside ride at Uttoxeter.  It is certainly good to see him back in the saddle after a horrible unseat at Taunton on Wednesday.  The next runners from the stable will likely come at Ascot tomorrow with declarations made at 10am today.

The big race of the day comes at Newmarket where there is a Listed contest for two year old's.  It is going to be something of a cavalry charge with 19 youngsters in the line-up and most of the biggest flat stables represented.

Over in the States it is the first day of the Breeders' Cup at Santa Anita and whilst tomorrow is very much the big day, there are still four Grade 1 contests and a couple of Grade 2's on the menu.  Jamie Spencer, Ryan Moore and Frankie Dettori are just a few of the jockeys from this side of the Atlantic riding over there.  A soggy Newmarket or sunny Santa Anita - it doesn't sound like a difficult choice to me!

Former Pond House conditional jockey turned flat trainer, Tom Dascombe has a runner, Dr Simpson in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint tonight at 8.12pm - we wish him every success with that.

We are pleased to bring you the latest installment in our stable staff series where Guillaume Suratteau nominates his horse to follow for the jumps season.  Click on the image below to view the video...

Over in America, it is the first round of practice ahead of the US Grand Prix this weekend from Austin, Texas.  Despite seemingly having the fastest car now, Ferrari continue to conspire to beat themselves.  It will be interesting to see how they fare this weekend.  Lewis Hamilton needs only a handful of points to claim his sixth world championship.

There is an exciting day of sport ahead with the Rugby World Cup third place play-off match between Wales and New Zealand taking place this morning at 9am.  Wales are massive underdogs to beat the All Blacks.  It will be scant consolation to either side with pride the main reward.
